The FASTER Rival to the BF 109
The Messerschmitt BF 109 is remembered as the main fighter for Germany during the Second World War. But did you know prior to the war that Heinkel attempted to win over the Air Ministry with their version of a fighter aircraft? Meet the Heinkel He 100. This lesser known plane would actually be the faster aircraft in the world at one stage. So why didn't Germany adopt it into the Luftwaffe? In today's video we look at the faster rival to the Bf 109, the Heinkel He 100.

Perhaps its strangest feature though was a lack of forward facing guns. In today's video we look at the Boulton Paul Defiant. At Premier History we want to take you on a journey through time and grow your knowledge to ...

Переглядів 2 тис.Місяць тому
During the Second World War tanks came in many different shapes and sizes. Some of these weapons of war were a lot better than others. British designers would create two tanks that you've likely never heard of. Known as the TOG, these super-heavy tanks were something much more suited for the First World War. They would face trials in 1941 but ultimately fail to meet the standards needed for thi...

WWII Germany, More Horses Than You Think
It’s literally the cyber truck lol
My grandfather was a veteran of the second world war. His rank is 2nd lieutenant of the reserve force of the USAFFE corps in the Philippines. General Mc Arthur ordered to defend the island of Mindanao until he returned. They counter attacked the Japanese with guerilla tactics. They survived until the arrival of the allies with Filipino and American soldiers in World War 2.
The backbone of the navy is the captain rank can oversee all the situation in the ground and the field in a largest and small operation unlike other high ranks only set in the chair.
Though obviously the war had its many fronts…….something about the Eastern Front made it feel like a completely different war.
Real USMC rank structure by tier: 1.) E-1-E3 2.) E-4 3.) E-5 & O-1+2 4.) E-6 5.) E-7&O-3 6.) E-8&O-4 7.) E-9&O-5 8.) O-6 9.) O-7 thru O-10 10.) GOD UNICORN STATUS. CWO-1 thru WO-5.
A10 came out... if you were targeted you wont hear brrrrtttt.
Hi, your channel is great, I'm so glad to have found it. The Heinkel He100 looks sleak and maneuverable, could have been a pain in the ass for the Allies. I wonder if you have ever heard of the 500,000 th CMP(Canadian Military Pattern) truck? The only truck to ever be allowed to leave the factory (June 1943) wearing the badging of Chevrolet, Ford and Dodge on it's grill . I've seen pictures and some articles but I would love to know more, especially where is it now. Just thought I'd put a bug in your ear, keep up the great work. Slava Ukraini! 🇨🇦🇺🇦 Dale D
Thanks Dale really appreciate the support! No I hadn’t but that does sound very interesting, Thank you!
This was a great video. I would love to see more ingenious inventions like this.
I wonder why they installed the engine upside down in the Bf 109 and the He 100 🤔
Then engine was designed that way. The cowling can be smaller at the top for better visibility and the gun that shoots through the propeller hub sits between the cylinder banks
Plus it made the maintenance for the ground crew a lot easier as well!
Cool thanks guys !

Lol, no. The Pz IV was not the best tank of the war.
Aaaaaaaaaawwŵwwwwwwerrèeeèerŕŕrŕrŕŕrrŕrŕ
Leading Aircraftman rank is awarded on the completion of basic trade training and is not because they are more experienced.
My friend's dad was Navy UDT. We used to look through his military manuals and I remember seeing instructions for making a "sticky" bomb with a sock and grease. We also had a newer book that displayed WWII weapons and it showed the British sticky bomb, so we understood both anti-tank bombs. I remembered this as I sat in the theater watching that scene in the film.
My grandfather was in the 7th Australian Division in Syria fighting the Vichy French but was called over to Tobruk to help the engineers mount captured Italian 105mm artillery on captured Italian trucks in "A PORTEE" configuration . They were obviously faster than Romme'ls and the Italian tanks , with more firepower, but no armour. Nevertheless with the jhelp of the British artillery they stopped the Afrika Corps attacks and helped make the Tobruk Siege impregnable to the Germans until the withdrawal of most of the Australian units. The military museum in WA north of Perth shows these trucks . Pop had fought the Germans in France and firstly in Flanders in 1916 - 18and helped stop them at Polygon Wood late in the war/
It’s the anti aircraft rockets I’m curious about
sadly this fucking planet is militarising everywhere
The thumbnail image shows a V2 in transport mode with a three axle trailer. This exact configuration of V2 laying horizontal on its trailer/launcher, and in very original condition - there is a set stored at the Australian War Memorial Canberra Australia. I did a Army course at the Aussie War Memorial 31 years ago. When taken on a tour of the large exhibits storage we were told the trailer is the last remaining example remaining world wide. AWM also have a ME 262 in original complete condition.
As Dirty Harry would say, you've got to ask yourself one question. Have helicopters changed much since 1971?
English Army whe entered in Tobruk found a German Factory of those marvellous "Jerrycan" and just started to fabric them for their Armies😊
I would do the same if i were mr braun anything to achieve my goals.
How has the commissioned officer insignia changed, due to King Charles as monarch?
2024... Ukraine trying to lie to us that it wasn't the Russian army that substantially made the defeat of hitler possible, and they are even whitewashing the crimes committed by the naz!s and Stepan who raided polish villages and unalive the people there because he was following hitler and his ideology. Thanks to the U S of A.
This is great and it was almost all new as far as evasive maneuvering.
I was working on an AU (Alternate Universe) fic of WW2 in the Pacific war, and the British have these planes, but in the fic, they also have forward guns to aid in bomber escort, and to help strafe hostile ships
Germany would be powerful terror if they never invaded poland or Russia and other countries
Did the bombs hit one the bells after damageing the roof?
nuts. 😉
I've seen enough Movies in the making. I'll say Maj to MajG. The CMSGT Is never around or on the phone finding that A Man killed a Admiral and all of a Sudden a Master Chief Staff shows up😂
High tech for those times !
Kanister
I have Tom and Jerry flashbacks
Just like Uganda 🇺🇬 same arrangement of ranking
Lol even in 2022 SSGT was no longer attainable, and officially obsolescent, with only people still int hat rank retaining it.
I think you mean Trooper, not patrolman. Patrolman to my knowledge is not an alternative title for PTE. I never heard of the rank Patrolman while I served.
The Philippines IS PROUD TO HAVE U.S. WEAPONS.
That’s because Germany sought to Unite Europe, and worked for the sovereignty and liberation of Europe from Judeo-Bolshevism and Judeo-American Imperialism, unlike France, Uk who sold all their colonial assets to USA.
Very interesting plane
Indeed! Not a typical fighter that’s for sure
I was a pathfinder. 1st in Last out. Canadian and UK forces also have pathfinders
4:04 - that's Polish checkerboard under the cockpit :O Didn't know Polish pilots flew these :O
Yes I believe the Polish flew them along with several other allied forces
Ah, yes, Boulton Paul Defiant , the most "un-fightery" fighter plane ever :)
A strange design for a ‘fighter’ that’s for sure!
I've seen these in random photos in various history books, but they never had any description or information provided with them; honestly, due to the lack of information, I just assumed it must have been a rare or prototype torpedo bomber with a more aggressive defensive turret, as it looks similar to the TBF Avenger; thank you for educating us with the true nature of this aircraft! ☺️
Glad you enjoyed the video and was able to take something away from it!
Lots of interwar ideas did not do so well in practice. Like the 2 seat carrier fighters, or the multi-flight deck carrier concept. French multi-roll med bomber/attack/recon planes. Infantry tanks. The ratio of prewar American carrier fighters to attack aircraft was found to be very lacking. Even just the fact that most nations went into WW2 with the same bolt action rifles they had used in WW1, just beggar's belief.
Great points there Michael! Seems to have taken the ‘old heads’ some time to come around to the fast pace of the Second World Wars technology
Never heard of that one.
Glad you were able to learn something!
Wow, that's an interesting design. Very cool how they adapted it to different roles as its advantages were being countered over time.
Agreed, it was an interesting design for a fighter that’s for sure!

I recommend that this be deleted and redone. There are so many errors in it.
My uncle (survived) was on a ship sunk off the U.S. east coast. Bananas washed up on Atlantic City beaches.
Sargent does not come after lance corporal corporal before Sargent or gunner, I was corporal after ten years you need to do some checking or join up, I was a instructor at kapooka waga waga in NSW, there is no hard and fast rules in rank responsibility
